Hiberica is Established: Edoardo Freddi International Expands its Global Footprint

Edoardo Freddi International is strengthening its international growth strategy with the launch of Hiberica, a new export management company based in Spain, established to support Spanish wineries in developing their presence across international markets. The new venture forms part of EFI & Friends, the ecosystem created to broaden the Group’s reach beyond Italian wine while expanding its expertise and creating new opportunities across global markets.

Hiberica brings Edoardo Freddi International’s proven business model to Spain, offering wineries strategic support in export development, distributor network building, commercial partner selection and international brand positioning. Launched in the first months of 2026, the company already represents eight wineries from some of Spain’s most prestigious wine regions, including Familia Martínez Bujanda, a leading group with estates across the country’s principal appellations; Bodegas Comenge in Ribera del Duero; Lagar do Batán, renowned for its Albariño from Rías Baixas; and Laureado Brut, a contemporary expression of the D.O. Cava denomination. Collectively, Hiberica’s portfolio brings together producers cultivating more than 700 hectares of estate-owned vineyards and exporting to over 60 countries worldwide. The project is supported by a dedicated team from Edoardo Freddi International, providing expertise in sales, marketing and export management to accelerate international growth.

The expansion of EFI & Friends, however, extends beyond Spain. The Group is also continuing to develop Sapiens Spirits, its premium spirits division, which supports internationally focused producers through distribution and promotional activities while acting as a strategic link between producers and overseas distributors.

This diversification strategy comes at a time of continued growth for Edoardo Freddi International. Having closed 2025 with more than €120 million in managed turnover, 38 million bottles marketed and operations spanning 112 countries, the company has continued to strengthen its global presence throughout 2026 while further developing specialist expertise across different product categories and distribution models. During the first half of the year, EFI recorded a 6% increase in turnover and consolidated its presence in more than 115 international markets. The number of partner wineries has risen to 68, while the team has grown to 40 specialised professionals.

“Over the past few years, we have realised that our future cannot depend on a single geographical origin or a single product category,” comments Edoardo Freddi. “With Hiberica, we are exporting for the first time a business model that has already proven highly successful in helping Italian wineries grow internationally. At the same time, we continue to invest in new segments through Sapiens Spirits, with the ambition of building an ecosystem capable of creating tangible opportunities for both producers and distributors.”

With the launch of Hiberica and the continued development of Sapiens Spirits, EFI & Friends marks its evolution from a company specialising in the export of Italian wines into an international platform connecting producers and distributors across the premium wine and spirits sectors, anticipating the trends that will shape the industry’s future growth.
